Trapped

Title: Trapped
By: Michael Northrop
Genre: realistic fiction
Rate: 5

This book is about seven kids that get trapped at their school because of a really bad snow storm. They have to make life changing decisions and some minor decisions. They all start out not hardly knowing each other but end up being really good friends. One decision is to take an unfinished snow mobile out. They choose to take it. Only one of them go out, Pete, and he ends up flipping the snow mobile and dies. Then one of his friends go out on very poorly made snow shoes to help him and finds Pete dead and then he goes for help and a helicopter comes and picks up the rest of the kids.

This book is a very exciting book to read and you could possibly learn a few things. If I could I would rate it a 100 stars but the highest I can go is 5 so I rate this book the highest 5 it can get.

The Clearing

This story is about Amy who just wants to forget about her old life. When Amy moves in with her Aunt Mae, she finds the mysterious mist near her yard and she meets a boy from 1944. Soon, she and Henry become friends and lovers. Can these two kids figure out how to stay together, proving that true love is really timeless.

I rated this a 4.5 because it was a nice story that was well written and explain. It also had an ending making me want to read more. It  mad me cry at the end because it was so sad. I would recommend reading this as a good spring break reading.

The Luxe By Anna Godbersen

Title: The Luxe
Author: Anna Godbersen
Publisher:
Age Recommendation: Young Adult
Star Rating: 5/5 Stars

Plot: It's 1899 in Manhattan New York, with the beginning of the social season growing near, things in this big city are anything but calm and innocent. In this tale of multiple forbidden loves; Manhattan socialites, and the social rules that apply will govern the city. There' s the handsom and mysterious Henry Shoonmaker, the socialite Elizabeth Holland with infinate social expectations. Then there's perfect carriage boy Will Keller who might just fall in love with the wrong girl, and her in return. It doesn't end there and the secrets go on, but in 1899 Manhattan, it's all about who you know and what you know about them.

Review: In this tantilizing read, you simply can't get enough. And thank god Anna Godberson wrote a sequel.  I swear I was glued to this novel for an entire weekend. This beautifully composed historical fiction/romance left me dying to read more. I recommend The Luxe to any fairly-advanced reader, because honestly, it was a hard read. I normally stick within the Fantasy/Sci-Fi genre, but the Luxe took me for a dramatic ride into a new genre I never expected to like at all.  The next book in the series is called Rumors, which in my opinion was just as good, if not better. To follow that came Envy, and lastly Splendor. They were all equally as engaging and thriller and over-all addicting. The author's other novel, Bright Young Things, starts a new series, which goes by the same name, and though it is only the first book out, it was nearly flawless and almost as perfect as The Luxe.

Gone
By: Michael Grant
Age Recommendation: Young Adult
Rating: 5 out of 5

Everyone over the age of fourteen is gone in the blink of an eye.  Nobody knows where they are or how they got there.  There are no adults so bullies have all the power.  With an opaque barrier surrounding them they have no communications with the rest of the world.  Both animals and teens are developing mutations or powers, that are deadly, and everyone knows a war is going to take place in the near future.
I would rate this book a five out of five, because it is shocking and a page turner.  This book had a well thought out plot and an ending that is breathtaking.

Maximum Ride Series

Maximum Ride Series
By:James Patterson
Genre: Science Fiction
Rate: 5 stars

This series is about kids who are 98% human and 2% bird.  The main characters are Maximum Ride, Fang, Iggy, Gasman, Nudge, and Angel. All of the kids try to fight for their lives so they don't have to go to the lab. On their adventures they find some things out along the way and meet new and interesting people.

I rated this a 5 out of 5 because this is the best science fiction series and is one of the best fast action books I've read in a long time with many different twist and turns. I loved the action and this isn't the type of book that has the same problems or storyline-- it's always different.  I loved all the Maximum Ride books in the series. I can't wait for the next book, Angel to come out on February 14, 2011!!!! :)

This story was about a young princess named Cleopatra just like her mother. She finds out that her mom and dad(Cleopatra VII and Mark Antony) are in a war against Octavius. When they take her prisoner in Rome she wonders if she will ever see Egypt again or will she die.

The Heist Society

Author:Allly Carter
Reading level: Young Adult
Publisher: Hyperion Book CH (February 9, 2010)
Rate:1.5
Genre: Action/Adventure

The main plot of The Heist Society is a girl who's family are all thief's. The main character is Kat and she tried to quit being a thief and go to regular school but she gets kicked out fast. Then to make matters worse her dad(one of the best criminal minds in the world) is in trouble but she has a week to find the stolen paintings her dad didn't steal or she and her dad will be in big trouble, and only a matter of  a few weeks.

I rated the The Heist Society by Ally Carter a 1.5 because I didn't think the plot moved fast enough, and there were parts that seemed to be repetative and boring.
